Welcome.
I am a PhD student in the Anthropology Department at Cornell University as of August, 2024. Here, I study right-wing politics, evangelicalism, and racial identity in the US South. I am based in Ithaca.
Before re-joining academia, I was an educator and writer of various stripes in Boston, Chicago, and Mexico City. I’ve written about bone sculptors, CAPTCHAs, Manipur, and Anthony Bourdain. On this website, you can find my full writing portfolio as well as some teaching materials that I invite you to use.
I graduated from Brown University in 2020. I speak Spanish, and I have some proficiency in Hindi, Vietnamese, and French. I like novels, hiking, Liverpool FC, and a cocktail called the boulevardier. You can follow me on Twitter @liam_greenwell.
